Terms of Service

Last updated: 16 May 2026

Who this is between

These terms are an agreement between you and Robinsight Limited, the New Zealand company that operates What's for Dinner. By creating an account or using the app, you're agreeing to them.

What you need to use the app

You need to be 16 or older. You need to give us accurate information when you sign up and keep it up to date. You're responsible for whatever happens under your account, so use a real password and keep it to yourself.

If you join or run a household inside the app, the people you invite can see the household's meal plans, shopping lists, and preferences. Treat your household members with the same care you'd want.

Using the app in good faith

What's for Dinner is built for households doing the daily work of feeding people. We trust you to use it that way. That means:

  • Don't try to scrape the app, reverse engineer it, or rebuild it elsewhere
  • Don't use it to abuse, harass, or harm other people, including your household members
  • Don't try to break the AI, prompt-inject it, or get it to produce harmful content
  • Don't share your account with people outside your household for commercial purposes
  • Don't try to bypass payment, gate the app for others, or resell access

If you do, we may suspend or close your account.

Subscriptions and billing

Some features are part of a paid subscription. Your card is charged by our payment processor; we don't see or store your card details.

Subscriptions renew automatically until you cancel. You can cancel from your account settings at any time, and access continues until the end of the period you've paid for. We don't offer pro-rata refunds for partial periods. If something is genuinely broken on our end and you've been charged for a service you couldn't use, get in touch and we'll sort it out.

Prices and plans may change. If they do, we'll tell you in advance, and you'll have a chance to cancel before the new price applies.

Your content

The recipes, meal plans, preferences, and notes you create stay yours. You're giving us permission to store and process them so the app can do its job, including using them to generate personalised suggestions for your household.

We may use anonymised, aggregated data (patterns that can't be tied back to you) to improve the app. Your personal content is never sold or shared with advertisers.

What the AI produces

The app uses AI to generate recipes and suggestions. That means:

  • Recipes are suggestions, not professional dietary or medical advice
  • We do our best to honour your allergies and dietary settings, but you're responsible for checking ingredients before you cook
  • If anyone in your household has a serious allergy or medical condition, treat AI-generated content with the same caution you would any recipe from the internet
  • Cooking times, temperatures, and food safety remain your responsibility in your own kitchen

Service availability

We aim to keep the app available and working, but we can't promise it'll be perfect or up every minute. We may need to take it down for maintenance, fixes, or updates. We'll try to give notice when we can.

Consumer rights and warranties

If you're a consumer in New Zealand, the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 gives you rights that these terms can't take away. Nothing here limits those rights.

Beyond what New Zealand law requires, the app is provided “as is”. We don't guarantee it will be free of bugs, that recipes will suit every taste, or that meal plans will solve every dinner problem.

Liability

To the extent the law allows, our total liability to you for any claim related to the app is capped at the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. We're not liable for indirect, consequential, or incidental losses, things like lost time, lost profits, or spoiled ingredients.

Ending things

You can close your account at any time from settings. We can suspend or close your account if you breach these terms, if your account stays dormant for a long period, or if we have to stop offering the service.

When your account ends, your personal data is handled according to our Privacy Policy.

Changes to these terms

If we make material changes, we'll tell you by email or in the app before they take effect. If you keep using the app after that, you're agreeing to the new terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of New Zealand. Any disputes will be heard in New Zealand courts.
