Privacy Policy

Who we are
What's for Dinner is run by Robinsight Limited, a New Zealand company based in Wellington. When this policy says “we”, “us”, or “our”, we mean Robinsight Limited.
What we collect
When you sign up for What's for Dinner, you give us a few things directly:
- Your name and email, so we know who you are
- Your household setup, food preferences, allergies, and cooking skill, so the app can plan meals that actually suit you
- Your address, which we only use to surface the supermarkets near you
- Recipe history, meal plans, and shopping lists you create inside the app
We also pick up some information as you use the app, such as which pages you visit, which features you use, and basic device details. That helps us see what's working and fix what isn't.
If you pay for a subscription, your card details are handled by our payment processor. We never see or store your card number.
How we use it
- Personalising recipe suggestions, meal plans, and shopping lists for your household
- Treating your allergies and dietary needs as safety-critical, so harmful ingredients are never suggested
- Showing you nearby supermarkets based on your address
- Improving the app by looking at how features are used, in aggregate
- Sending you the occasional account-related message (a payment receipt, a password reset, that kind of thing)
We do not sell your information. We do not share your eating habits, ingredient quantities, recipe history, or meal plans with supermarkets, food brands, or advertisers. None of those companies get a list of what you like to cook.
Your address and the supermarkets
We use your address for one thing: showing you the supermarkets near you, so your shopping list points to the right store. We don't pass your name, your preferences, your shopping list, or your recipes to those supermarkets. As far as they're concerned, they don't know you use the app.
Where your data lives
Your data is hosted on servers in the Asia Pacific region. We work with a small number of infrastructure providers to keep the app running, things like database hosting, payment processing, error monitoring, and the AI that generates recipes. Each provider only sees what they need to do their part of the job, never your full profile or behaviour.
We choose providers who don't train AI models on your data and who don't retain it beyond the request.
Your rights under the NZ Privacy Act 2020
Under the New Zealand Privacy Act 2020, you have the right to:
- Access the personal information we hold about you
- Request correction of anything that's wrong
- Request deletion of your personal information
- Understand how your information is being used
- Complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner if you think we've mishandled your data
To exercise any of these, email us at privacy@robinsight.com.
Deleting your account
You can delete your account at any time from the Household settings page. When you do, your personal data, preferences, meal history, and cooking information are removed from our systems within 30 days. Anonymised, aggregated data that can't be linked back to you may be kept.
Children
What's for Dinner isn't intended for people under 16. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under that age. If you think a child has signed up, let us know and we'll remove their account.
Changes to this policy
If we change anything material in here, we'll let you know by email before it takes effect.
